Gypsy Vanner Horse Society Hall of Fame

Outstanding GVHS members or Vanner supporters may be recognized for their outstanding contributions towards the breed recognition, education, betterment and growth of the Gypsy Vanner Breed and of the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society.  Following are areas of service to be considered for achieving this honor.

Nominations will be considered by the GVHS nomination committee and recommendation made to the Board of Directors.  Final entry into the Hall of Fame is at the discretion of the GVHS Board of Directors.

 Lifetime Achievement  – A nominated member must be / has been a member for a minimum of 20 consecutive years.  They demonstrate exceptional specific contribution toward the perpetuation, use of, or breeding of the Gypsy Vanner Horse.  Have earned respect as a positive, active or inspirational representative of the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society.

Volunteer Service – The nominee must have volunteered exceptional and specific contributions toward the perpetuation, use or promotion of the Gypsy Vanner Horse and the GVHS.  Has dedicated time and resources and have documented volunteer service in the community, public or within the GVHS with positive results on behalf of the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society and the Gypsy Vanner breed.

Membership Development –  The nominee must have demonstrated exceptional specific contribution toward the encouragement of membership into the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society. Have clearly influenced, retained, or directly prompted new membership.  Dedicated time and resources to GVHS growth as a positive, active and inspirational representative of the GVHS and the Gypsy Vanner breed.

“Friend” of the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society –   Artists, show promoters, journalists, or anyone who may or may not be a member, but who, through their efforts, have raised awareness of the Gypsy Vanner Horse breed and/or the GVHS in the general public and within the equine community.

How to Nominate

Submitted Nominations must include the following for consideration. Nominations must be submitted to gvhs@vanners.org by October 1st each year for consideration for induction into the Hall of Fame at the subsequent annual event.

  1. Cover Letter: Nominator must submit a cover letter which includes an index of the materials provided within the submitted nomination packet.
  2. Completed Nominee Form: Nominator must complete a nomination form which summarizes the nominee’s detailed industry-related activities, offices held, honors, achievements, other industry activities and achievements, etc.
  3. Letters of Support: Nominator must include three to five reference letters.  Letters should be at least one-page in length.  Letters of support must be prepared by an individual with direct knowledge of the nominee’s activities, accomplishments, or impact on the breed or organization.  Current GVHS Directors, Officers, staff and GVHS Nominations Committee members cannot write Letters of Support.
  4. Support Information: Nominator should include supplementary materials to enhance the nominee’s application. These items may include published works about the nominee through newspaper articles, feature stories, press releases, etc.  It is the nominator’s responsibility to clearly indicate the nominee’s contributions. Nominator should identify the variety of activities performed to receive Hall of Fame recognition.  It is the nominator’s responsibility to provide substantiating documentation for verification of all achievements, awards, and/or honors referenced within the nomination packet.

Once nominated the nomination will remain in consideration for 3 years,  if not selected during that period, the person can be nominated again after an additional 3 year waiting period.
