Friday evening, February 16th, at the Waterfront Inn, 1105 Lake Shore Drive, The Villages, Florida. Beginning at 6PM will be a poolside Polynesian paradise reception. Come meet old friends and new. Meet Julie Goodnight who will be joining everyone for the evening festivities.
Saturday morning, February 17th, at the Grand Oaks Resort, 3000 Marion County Rd, Weirsdale, FL . We will begin at 8:30 AM with a one hour information and education session on the Gypsy Vanner evaluation program. Ever wonder how it all works, what you need to do to get your horse evaluated. Now is the time to observe and ask your questions. Horse evaluations will begin at 9:30 AM. Evaluation forms required no later then February 1st.
Julie Goodnight Clinic will begin at 9:30 am in the covered arena with groundwork. This will be divided into 2 sections:
Section A will be young and/or green horses, or novice handlers. You will work on ground manners and basic handling such as leading properly, standing quietly, staying focused and relationship building.
Section B will be more mature/competitive horses with experienced handlers. You will work on refinement, advanced groundwork and halter and showmanship skills.
12:30 PM Break for lunch. Lunch will be served on site. Be sure to sign up for the lunch on your entry form.
Julie Goodnight Clinic Mounted sessions in the covered arena start at 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM. Your preference on the type of tack you want to use.
Section A will be young and/or green horses, or novice riders. You will work on fundamental skills of balance in the saddle and cueing, authority and control, primarily at the walk and trot.
Section B will be mature/competitive horses with more advanced riders (WTC). Will focus on equitation, cueing and transitions, as it relates to competition (including dressage, English, western, ranch riding).
The clinic, both in hand and mounted will be flexible and may be tailored depending on the needs of the participants. If you don’t participate with a horse you can still soak up the information ringside.
Annual Banquet and Awards presentation at the Waterfront Inn, The Villages, FL, beginning at 6:30 PM on Saturday evening. This continues your Polynesian Paradise theme experience.
Sunday, February 18th, the Annual General Membership meeting will be held starting at 8:30 AM. The general membership meeting will include a review of the GVHS for the year 2017. Any member attending that would like to present a topic for discussion or address the group MUST submit that information to the GVHS office at firstname.lastname@example.org in writing no later than February 1st, 2018. This is required for time scheduling.
Lunch will be served at 12 Noon on Sunday. You must sign up for the lunch on your entry form.
